Douglas Howell

California State Director, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, Region 6

Douglas Howell became California State Director for the Office of Apprenticeship, Region 6 in March, 2021.  As the State Director, Douglas has responsibility of being Supervisor for 5 staff members that work as the Federal Apprenticeship Agency which provide oversight and technical assistance of the National Registered Apprenticeship System located in California.

The National Registered Apprenticeship System operates in cooperation with State agencies, businesses, industry, employers, employer associations, labor and management organizations and educational institutions. It is the nationally recognized credentialing system for skilled and technical occupational training programs in the U.S.

Prior to his appointment as the State Director, Douglas served as Multi-State Navigator in the Office of Apprenticeship for 5 years serving as the Liaison for All State Apprenticeship Agencies in Region 6.  Before that Mr. Howell was the Apprenticeship and Training Representative for 17 years in Nevada and Arizona.

A native of Lockport, Illinois, Mr. Howell received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from University of Phoenix.
