Okumu brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in the public and private sectors. Before joining City and County of San Francisco, he served as the Director of Enterprise IT Infrastructure for the City of Baltimore. He also served in interim Chief Information Officer roles in Baltimore. Okumu was prominent in helping the City of Baltimore recover following the City ransomware attack in 2019. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and Networking from Strayer University in Washington, D.C., and a Master of Science degree in Business and Information Systems from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Additionally, Okumu holds several high-profile industry certifications in cyber-security -CISSP, PMI project management- PMP, IT service management -ITIL, enterprise architecture -TOGAF to name a few.
