It is common in the cybersecurity world to focus on technical controls and implementing policies and guidance to govern the security of the network. But we continue to miss understanding how human behavior can impact and affect the security posture of our environments. This presentation will discuss how perception, cognition and intention can affect how security controls are implemented, as well as how many missing security controls may exist in the environment. And this is not just our users, but the IT and security professionals that must collaborate to implement security controls and improve cyber hygiene.

Define perception and intention in relation to cybersecurity programs.
Articulate how psychological concepts such as perception and intention can impact the overall security posture of a network.
Define how perception and intention may be affecting their own organizations and programs.
