John Sapp is the VP of Information Security & CISO for Texas Mutual Insurance Company, based in Austin, Tex., and the creator of Cybersecurity Conversations: The Hype, Hope and Harsh Reality.

In 2012, Turner Broadcasting named John a cyber visionary, and he was an invited guest to The White House for the discussion on the National Strategies for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace. He has been a speaker at several major conferences, including ISC2 Security Congress, RSA in the U.S. and Europe, SAP GRC, HIMSS Global Healthcare, and Secure World in Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco.

John is a member of Board of Directors for the FAIR Institute, along with several Technology Advisory and Customer Advisory Boards for security technology companies. He is a multi-award winning and strategic global information security executive with 30+ years of experience, knowledge and expertise. He is an industry thought leader and early adopter of emerging security technologies, who is adept at building and optimizing enterprise cybersecurity programs and communicating in a common language with business risk context and driving informed, risk-based decisions.

Throughout his career, John has helped multiple organizations (mid-size and large) develop a clear picture of their current cyber risk posture and cybersecurity capabilities, and executing a multi-year strategy to achieve the desired target state, while delivering an informed view of when, where, how and why to invest in people, process and technology to manage cyber risk.
