Francois Mestre

Head of Unit Digital Transformation Services, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control

Francois Mestre has been in charge of the Digital Transformation Services since he joined ECDC in 2018. He started his career at the French Treasury, Economic Forecast and Custom Department, as regional IT manager for Europe and South America. He also worked as Chief Information Officer at the Autonomous University of Madrid where he led a complete overhaul of the Information Systems necessary for the adaptation of the University to the Bologna process. He joined the EU Institutions in 2011 at the European Chemicals Agency as Head of Unit for Management Information Systems and subsequently as Head of Unit of the Business Information Systems unit. He was in charge of the implementation of all regulatory and scientific IT systems necessary for the successful completion of the 2018 REACH registration deadline. Francois holds a M.Sc. in Telecom Engineering from Telecom Bretagne and an B.A. in law from the University Paris I. He publishes articles on topics related to IT Law either in peer reviewed journals or on his blog.
