Dr. Atty Mashatan CISSP

Dr. Atty Mashatan is a Canada Research Chair, Associate Professor of Information Technology Management, and Founding Director of the Cybersecurity Research Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, crypto agility, and the security and resilience of critical infrastructure.

Atty leads collaborative research initiatives with industry, government and international partners to help organizations prepare for emerging cyber threats and the transition to quantum-safe technologies. She is recognized as an expert in cryptography and the cybersecurity implications of emerging technologies, including quantum computing. Atty has served on several national advisory bodies, including the National Quantum Advisory Council for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, and has contributed to numerous initiatives advancing post-quantum cryptography, cryptographic migration, and cyber resilience.

Atty’s work bridges academic research and real-world deployment, with a focus on developing practical, standards-aligned solutions that strengthen the security and resilience of critical infrastructure in the quantum era. She has been recognized for both her research and leadership, including being named among Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women in STEM and the Top 25 Women of Influence for her contributions to cybersecurity and advocacy for women in the field.
