Arturo Santos

President, ISC2 South Florida Chapter

I'm passionate about data privacy protection and that's always the view that I bring when I apply my technical expertise to address confidential data exchanges in an interconnected world. For more than two decades, I have helped the secure business development of large organizations leading the implementation of solutions for information systems security, governance, risk and compliance management in multiple industries with teams across all over the world. During the last 6 years, I've been focused on the transportation sector as cybersecurity architect first for Boeing and then for Amtrak since 2020, to help every passenger and train rider rest assured not only that his data in protected but that all the cyber-physical systems that support the critical infrastructure are secured and resilient. As a result, I have been invited to collaborate in the development of the first international cybersecurity standard for rail applications leading the North America representation in the International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC through the American National Standards Institute, ANSI as the secretary of the technical advisory group, TAG of the Technical Committee for electrical equipment and systems for railways. In ISC2, I found alignment between its principles and objectives and my personal goals to educate, inspire, connect and protect our community starting with the most vulnerable; that's why in 2018 I joined a group of enthusiastic CISSPs in the South Florida region to start a local chapter; the world pandemic hit us within the first year of inception and we were able to change, adapt and thrive under unforeseen circumstances, turning adversity into opportunities. We learned to work closer with ISC2 and to join forces with other chapters leveraging the virtual world. Consequently, I was invited to join the ISC2 Chapter Advisory Committee, where I currently serve as Chair striving to represent the ISC2 chapter leaders to discuss and propose solutions to the challenges that we face locally but with global implications.
